Time-Domain Asymptotic Solution for Edge-Surface Diffracted Ray
We derive a time-domain asymptotic solution for the edge-surface diffracted ray excited by the edge of a thin cylindrically curved conducting surface from the corresponding frequency-domain asymptotic solution. The validity of the asymptotic solution is confirmed by comparing with the reference solution calculated numerically.
متن کاملSpatial Resolution in Tomographic Imaging with Diffracted Fields
The spatial resolution that is achievable using non-uniformly sampled data in the Fourier domain is examined. In particular, we focus on the typical non-uniform sampling that arises when diffraction tomography is used. We firstly introduce an effective conversion from non-uniform to uniform sampling grids using a transformation that minimizes an error measure in the frequency domain and that is...
متن کاملUniform Diffracted Fields from a Perfectly Conducting Cylindrical Reflector with Modified Theory of Physical Optics
The uniform diffracted fields are calculated on PEC cylindrical reflector by Modified Theory of Physical Optics (MTPO). It is aimed to convert the noncontinuous solution to a continuous solution by finding a uniform equation which does not contain any expression converging to 0 in the denominator part. Three axioms of MTPO theory are used to construct the integral equations for the perfectly el...
متن کاملSpatio-temporal characterization of ultrashort pulses diffracted by circularly symmetric hard-edge apertures: theory and experiment.
We carry out a complete spatio-temporal characterization of the electric field of an ultrashort laser pulse after passing through a diffractive optical element composed of several binary amplitude concentric rings. Analytical expressions for the total diffraction field in the time and spectral domain are provided, using the Rayleigh-Sommerfeld formulation of the diffraction. These expressions a...
متن کاملThe diffracted field and its gradient near the edge of a thin screen.
The secondary edge source line integral formulation for diffraction modeling uses edge sources with a 1/r dependency, in addition to a directivity function. At first sight, this might seem to contradict the expected 1/r behavior for the gradient near the edge of a thin screen. An analysis is presented for the special case of perpendicular plane wave incidence onto a thin screen, which shows tha...
